So with the pink Cricut craze underway, I thought I’d share little nugget I stumbled upon. A real live pink cricket!! (Okay, so it’s actually a pink katydid, but they’re in the cricket family).

Anyway, check it out.

Have you ever noticed that when you fold your cardstock to make cards or other projects, sometimes it just cracks? Want to prevent that? Check out my tip below, you’ll never have that problem again.

Now that you know how to stop it from cracking there are other useful things to make your creases perfect. My favorite is the Making Memories Bone Folder, or the Measuring & Scoring Board by Scor-Pal, but there’s also a pretty good one in your Cricut tool kit as well.

Now you’re on your way to making beautiful cards.

Colored Cricut Craze

A couple days back I did a post about LaShaun and her Pink Cricut, and it seems to have started a trend.

Browsing through the Cricut message board, I found several people painting their Cricut machines. I know it was done before, but it seems like the thing to do these days. I’d like to think I had something to do with that. Just kidding, but it is fun to watch! And as you can see it doesn’t have to be limited to just pink either!

Faithfule's Purple Cricut Machine

I found user Faithfule’s purple E, and although she thinks LaShaun’s was better, I have to say, I think hers is fabulous!

One of my personal favorites is this one by Alice Brown. She did hers in Read the rest of this entry »

Free File!! Paper Bouquet

Paper Bouquet

I love to teach. Mostly all things Cricut, but I have taught other things in my days. Cards, calendars, you name it. While my days are now filled with Cricut, I still love all those other things as well.

There are many ways that I learn new things. I take other classes, talk to other instructors and also read books.

One of my favorites is called Paper Bouquet: Using Paper Punches to Create Beautiful Flowers. It has excellent pictures, detailed, easy to read directions and the flowers are as real looking as you’re going to get without purchasing actual flowers.

One thing I’d like to mention is that it does require a lot of punches that you might think are difficult to find, however I have found an ebay seller that has quite a few of the flower punches. They’re inexpensive and all in once place. The seller also has a store full of other craft goodies. At first I was discouraged because I really wanted to make these beautiful flowers, but after finding this seller, this book became invaluable to me.

Then an even better idea came to me. Why couldn’t I design these same flowers Read the rest of this entry »

I am not gonna lie. I know there are a lot of mixed feelings about the new and upcoming Gypsy that Provo Craft has been promoting recently, but I am excited.

Now before you think I’ve lost my mind, it does in fact say Pink Cricut in the title of this post. No, I don’t have a new favorite color, but I met a very interesting lady on the cricut.com messageboards. Her name is LaShaun and she did what I thought was an interesting and cute (although some might say a bit risky) project. Instead of using her Cricut machine to create a project, she made her machine the project. How, you ask? She painted it PINK!

Check out her video below and you’ll see for yourself what you can accomplish with a little bit of imagination and the desire to take your crafting to a new level!

Christy’s Main St. Memories

Today, I visited Christy’s Main Street Memories in New Concord Ohio. While I was there I couldn’t get over how cute the place was. The owner Christy Applegate was as nice as could be, and even scheduled a class on Sept 19!

CMSM

My daughter and I visited her store and were there quite a while just chatting about scrapping and her store and took a look around. She has an amazing selection of products and a wide variety of paper, and she had a lot of options when it came to stamps, some that you can’t find at the big chains. She gets business from all over but has a steady clientele of regulars who want to support local businesses, and she even does special orders! She does different classes, and has demonstrations from some of the stamping companies, and tries hard to Read the rest of this entry »

If you’ve been keeping up with me (it’s hard I know, so if you are, bless you!), you know that my favorite projects are greeting cards.

After thinking about it and going back and looking at the other posts, I noticed that I showed you a few of my cards, but thought maybe you’d like to make your own, and a little easier. So I am giving you all one of my card designs. This is a cute card that has lots of possibilities. As you can tell, you can use it upright or sideways, it’s cute either way.

This is a simple card that I think is best used in the spring for obvious reasons, maybe like a spring birthday or I would use it for an Easter card, but you can use it anytime, especially if you just want to send someone a card to cheer them up.

I got the idea behind this, because I was drooling over the new cartridges available on the Design Studio software. I liked tri-fold card feature on the Picturesque cartridge, Read the rest of this entry »

Anyone in St. Louis? I might be in your area
icon1 Crazy about Cricut | icon2 News | icon4 07 20th, 2009| icon32 Comments »

Hi everyone! I am thinking about scheduling some classes in the St. Louis area the last weekend in August, maybe Friday 8/28 and Saturday 8/29, but I wanted to get a feel for how many people are interested in taking a class there. I’ll probably do Cricut Basics and Design Studio for sure, but it might turn out to be more depending on how many people I have. I also was thinking about doing an all day workshop.

Also, as of right now I don’t have a location for the classes. I have some ideas, but if you know of a facility that has accommodations that would allow me to teach my classes, such as a church or community center, that would be really great. Plus, you can take both classes for free! Any other ideas for locations are greatly appreciated.

The dates and location are tentative for right now. I am just trying to get a feel for how many people are interested, so please if you are interested, let me know. You don’t have to commit to anything of course, I’m just trying to see gauge interest. You can contact me using the contact form here on the site, or leave a comment on this post!

Thanks everyone and Happy Cricuting!!

More Greeting Cards
icon1 Crazy about Cricut | icon2 Projects | icon4 07 17th, 2009| icon33 Comments »

If you knew me, you’d know that my favorite thing to make with my Cricut is my greeting cards. I have a large collections, some that I’ve made, some that others have made me, I keep them all.

Happy St. Patty's! Owl card

I’ve even made some I thought were so cute I didn’t want to give them away. Or like on one occasion, I made my husband a Valentines Day card that he had to turn around and give back so i could put it on display. He was okay with it though. His exact words I believe were “Did you make this for me or for you?” He knew the answer. But it’s the thought that counts right?

Am I the only one who has to spend hours on a greeting card before we can make it to the party?

Free File Alert!! Ribbon Trims
icon1 Crazy about Cricut | icon2 Free designs | icon4 07 16th, 2009| icon316 Comments »

Sometimes I like plain pages, sometimes I like scalloped edges, but sometimes I just want to be different. That’s where my new file comes in. It’s a set of ribbon cuts that I like to use to border my pages for a fancy touch, or I’ve used just a snippet of one for a small project such as greeting card or such. They’re sweet and cute all at the same time, so I thought I’d offer them to you all to see what kind of creative projects you can come up with.

Forget Me Not Scrapbooking

What would a vacation be if there wasn’t any Scrapbooking? Well, not a vacation, at least in my book. I scouted out some scrapbooking stores that were in Traverse City and planned on visiting a few. First up was Forget Me Not Scrapbooking.

Me outside FMNS in Traverse City.

A cute place with all my scrapping needs, I met a fellow scrapper and also employee who was excited to tell me a bit about the place. Not only does she share my love for crafting, but she shares Read the rest of this entry »

When I first got into crafting, I didn’t have much space. I also didn’t have nearly enough stuff so that wasn’t a problem. As time went by, and I started learning a little bit more and getting into it more, I realized that in order to create the best stuff, you have to have everything. And I do mean everything.

Organizational tools

Come into my craft room and you’ll see what I mean. I should start by saying that my scrapping room started as a small room upstairs that was barely able to hold a full size bed. When it got to the point that my family wouldn’t come visit me in that room because there was nowhere to stand let alone sit, I knew that I had to do something. Luckily it was at this point that my youngest son decided to move across the country. I shouldn’t say luckily (Miss you Rob!!!), but it just so happens that he was using our extremely large basement as his bedroom. So he moved out, and Read the rest of this entry »
